Product Overview
Taken in doses larger than those required to meet nutritional needs, the vitamin niacin has long been recognized as a supplement for cholesterol health. Niacin is well known and clinically studied to produce favorable effects on all lipid components, indicating positive effects in promoting healthy cholesterol within normal limits. Moreover, niacin has recently been shown to have a nutritional impact upon lipoprotein (a); small, dense LDL; fibrinogen; and the prostaglandin ratio of thromboxane/prostacyclin.
Some physicians prefer their patients take the plain form of niacin. Many research studies use the plain form of niacin due to its immediate impact upon cholesterol.
Most (P) niacin tablets are associated with the harmless but nuisance side effect of cutaneous flushing. The unique formulation of EP® PLAIN NIACIN helps reduce this effect.
Contraindications to niacin include gout, liver diseases including hepatitis, pregnancy, severe cardiac arrhythmias, and possibly diabetes. Niacin therapy should always be physician supervised.
